Is this punctuation and grammar checker really free?
Yes. There is no signup, no credit card, no watermark. You can run up to 50 checks per day per browser, which is plenty for an essay, a batch of emails, or a week of captions.
How does the checker work?
You paste your text and the tool sends it to a language model with a strict prompt: preserve your meaning, flag only real errors, and return a JSON list of fixes with a short explanation for each. If the AI is unavailable, a lightweight local pass catches the most common punctuation and grammar slips as a fallback.
What errors does it catch?
Missing or extra commas, run-on sentences, subject-verb agreement slips, tense drift, common spelling mistakes, capitalisation errors, wrong apostrophes ("your" vs "you’re", "its" vs "it’s"), "could of" / "would of" / "should of" misuses, and extra spaces around punctuation. Each fix comes with a one-sentence explanation.
How accurate is it compared to Grammarly or ProWritingAid?
For everyday writing — emails, captions, essays, casual copy — it catches the same kinds of errors those paid tools flag. It is deliberately conservative: it will not rewrite your style or second-guess intentional choices. For specialised academic or legal writing, a paid dedicated checker and a human review still help.
How long can the text be?
Up to 5,000 characters per check, which is roughly 800 words. For longer pieces, check one section at a time — you will also get cleaner feedback that way.
Will it change my meaning or rewrite my voice?
No. The prompt is explicitly instructed to preserve meaning, facts, names, and tone and to only correct actual errors. It does not paraphrase or "improve" your writing. If you want to rewrite, use a paraphrasing tool instead.
Does it fix punctuation only?
It fixes all three together: grammar, punctuation, and spelling. If you only want punctuation fixes, scan the output and accept only the rows tagged as "Punctuation" — each issue shows which category it belongs to.
Is my text stored anywhere?
The text is sent to our AI proxy for the single check and is not retained. We do not log the content of your text. Still, avoid pasting anything you would not want to process through a third-party model (passwords, live credentials, unreleased private data).
